IJI.RED — KARANGASEM, BALI – The 81st Anniversary of the Indonesian Prosecution Service was marked differently by the Karangasem District Prosecutor’s Office. Rather than limiting the celebration to ceremonial activities, the office chose to demonstrate its commitment to institutional integrity by conducting drug urine tests for all personnel.
On Tuesday, September 2, 2026, everyone within the Karangasem District Prosecutor’s Office—from structural officials and prosecutors to honorary staff—underwent urine screening. No one was exempt based on position or rank. The examination was conducted with the assistance of medical personnel as part of an effort to maintain a clean, healthy, disciplined, and drug-free working environment.
The result was significant.
Every urine sample tested negative for drugs—100% clean.
The initiative sends a strong message that the fight against illegal drugs should not only focus on suspects and offenders. Law enforcement institutions must also have the courage to strengthen supervision and integrity from within their own ranks.
Head of the Karangasem District Prosecutor’s Office, Dr. Kusufi Esti Ridliani, S.H., M.H., emphasized that the drug screening was part of the implementation of the Indonesian Attorney General’s Daily Directive and was aligned with the 81st Anniversary theme: “Restoring Public Trust Through Law Enforcement That Is Integrity-Driven, Fair and Humane.”
“As law enforcement officers, we are not only required to enforce the law against the public, but also to ensure that every member of the Prosecutor’s Office complies with the law and maintains integrity in everyday life. This drug test is not merely a ceremonial gimmick. It is our commitment to creating a clean, healthy, disciplined and drug-free working environment,” she said firmly.
The message is clear: integrity cannot remain a slogan.
When prosecutors demand that society respect the law, the institution itself must also demonstrate accountability and set an example. The urine screening represents one concrete form of internal supervision aimed at ensuring that the commitment to integrity is translated into action.
Kajari Kusufi also stressed that public trust is both an honor and a responsibility. Every member of the Adhyaksa corps represents the face of the Prosecutor’s Office, meaning personal conduct, discipline and integrity directly contribute to public confidence in the institution.
The 100% negative result therefore became a positive milestone in the 81st Anniversary celebration. For the Karangasem District Prosecutor’s Office, the result is not merely a statistic but an opportunity to further strengthen internal supervision and professional work culture.
